To Be Read.

I like reading. I even have a whole YouTube channel where I talk about books. Thing is-- I never make time to read. I'm sure some of you are in the same boat so I thought I'd try to motivate both you and me by sharing a few of my books on my To-Be-Read or TBR shelf.

Is Everyone Else Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling is a book I've read a little bit of already. It was endearing and hilarious and I am still kicking myself for ever putting it down. With a new book from Kaling coming soon, I desperately need to finish this guy and get my act together.

Dude, You're a Fag by C.J. Pascoe is an anthropology read-- which I so will adore-- and one on masculinity in high school. It's an ethnography (basically a study of a small culture) of high school dudes and their relationships with their own and others masculinity. SO. COOL. I love a good nonfiction pick and this one is high on my list.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky is a YA classic and somehow one I haven't read. To be honest, I mostly want to read it first so I can then watch the movie and stare at Logan Lerman for two hours. Dreamy.

Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit is a short one and will definitely be in my carry on when I head to Florida at the end of the month. As a series of essay on, well, things that men have explained, it seems like a create critique of patriarchal culture and that good stuff. Up next for sure!

Woman Rebel by Peter Bagge is a graphic novel who's cover you might recognize from this post. I love graphic novels for their easiness to read and short length, and this one is about Margaret Sanger. Birth control and cartoon? What more could you want!

striped... what?

Striped Intentions is laying on your bed, soaking in the sunlight. It's the shadows made by the blinds, lined up and down the sheets. It's wearing a striped shirt every day and not giving a damn. It's the constant search for "effortless chic"-- whatever that is-- and taking care of what you present to the world.
Too, Striped Intentions is a place to feel at home. No matter what you look like or feel like or do with your life, it's a space to appreciate life and all it's tiny details. It's having the best intentions with everything-- as striped with flaws as they may be.
