Style Crisis.

Style is really, really hard. It doesn't sound hard-- just put on some clothes!-- but, narrowing down and selecting pieces that really reflect who you are, that's what's really difficult.

My style has evolved immensely over the years (who's hasn't?), so finding what is really me has shifted as I've grown older. Now, after years of various clothing phases, I'm left with a more lacklustre wardrobe and not much to wear.

As the opposite of a hoarder and a wannabe minimalist, I've always gravitated towards remixing challenges and capsule wardrobes. My classic-leaning style thrives off of the seemingly daunting task, but when I attempt these changes, I fail in other categories.

The hardest part of such wardrobe mix-ups for me is the whole "not shopping" thing. I'm a bit of a shopaholic. I hate to admit it, but unfortunately I think it's true. And, naturally, I don't tend to spend a ton of time and effort on shopping for clothes, especially now, in the colder months. But there's something about the prospect of a limitation that get me nervous... and makes me want to shop.

I'm always torn between dropping a pretty penny on basics that I know I'll love and splurging on fast fashion favorites (hello, Old Navy) and usually end up with fun pieces that rarely make it through a few washes. After the season's over, I move on to the next thing, but when that season comes around next year, I have nothing to wear. Again.

So, this year is about my style crisis, as mentioned in my 6 for 2016. I'm not sure how or why, but I'm going to figure it out. This post is here to keep me accountable.

I think the spring is going to be good for my style, as it's always been my favorite season to dress for. Hopefully, by the time this year is over, I have a closet full of things that work for me, but also make it season to season. And I'll be documenting all of it on here for you.

Have you ever had a style crisis? Conquered a capsule wardrobe? Let me know your tips, tricks or any comments below. I'd love to know!

Striped Intentions is laying on your bed, soaking in the sunlight. It's the shadows made by the blinds, lined up and down the sheets. It's wearing a striped shirt every day and not giving a damn. It's the constant search for "effortless chic"-- whatever that is-- and taking care of what you present to the world.
Too, Striped Intentions is a place to feel at home. No matter what you look like or feel like or do with your life, it's a space to appreciate life and all it's tiny details. It's having the best intentions with everything-- as striped with flaws as they may be.
