For a New Year.

I love New Year's. I love the fresh start, the resolutions, the excitement for what lies ahead. Arguably, it's my favorite holiday-- this coming from someone who doesn't get too bothered by the holiday season as a whole. But there's something about the turn of the calendar that just gets me going and that's worth celebrating, at least to me.

New year means new beginning, new focuses, new outlooks-- the list goes on. And once again, as the clock strikes midnight for a brand new slate of 365 days, I find myself coming back to blogging. Every January, I am ambitious with this little slice of the internet I have. I plan out months of post, only to lose track by February. In the past, I've blamed it on a busy school schedule, but now that I've got my degree in tow, I no longer have any excuses. So, I'm doing it! I'm gonna really try blogging this time!

It may because my boyfriend asks me every. single. day if I thought of anything for my blog yet, or it might just be because while I love all the blogs and people I follow, I don't have a space that feels like it's made for me. There are blogs for mommies and married women and fashionistas, but where's the place where 20-somethings can gather and lament on relationships, budding careers, and maybe and eye shadow or two?

There's no place online that feels like I want it too. The warmth of female camaraderie is one of my favorite parts of womanhood, especially young womanhood, because it's everywhere. I felt it when selecting a seat next to the only other girl in the room on the first day of class. I felt it when getting into the elevator on the first day of my Big Girl Job and striking up conversation with the other chick in there with me. I feel it every day on my incredible team at work (Hey babes, if you're reading!). I want that place online. I want that warmth in a blog post! Not sure if it's possible, but I'm going to damn well try.

So, what can you expect for Striped Intentions? Some personal musings, as I like to call it, on the things that I deal with: dating, careers, friendships. Some of my passions: design, beauty, fashion. Maybe a few other things as they come, but what I'm hoping to promise is a bit of consistency. I'll be sharing my life, the things I'm loving or think you'd like, and I'm going to ask you to join in the conversation. I really, truly, hope you do.

Happy New Year. Here's to it being a good one.

Striped Intentions is laying on your bed, soaking in the sunlight. It's the shadows made by the blinds, lined up and down the sheets. It's wearing a striped shirt every day and not giving a damn. It's the constant search for "effortless chic"-- whatever that is-- and taking care of what you present to the world.
Too, Striped Intentions is a place to feel at home. No matter what you look like or feel like or do with your life, it's a space to appreciate life and all it's tiny details. It's having the best intentions with everything-- as striped with flaws as they may be.
